The pipe rack in miniature,
a souvenir between pipes and ceramic

Het wandrekje voor miniatuurtjes,
een souvenir tussen pijpen en plateel

By Don Duco

Abstract: Extend article on the history of miniature pipe racks that were produced in Gouda, Holland between 1915 and 1975. In course of the years shapes and designs developed from a small and luxurious article to larger souvenir versions. The earliest examples show painted decorations in the style of the Gouda pottery, soon dominated by illustrations of towns and famous buildings. In later times the Delft blue and Delft monochrome depictions dominate. After the Second World War only racks with souvenir subjects survived, mainly produced by the larger factory Goedewaagen and the workshop of the De Jong family.
