Abstract: The struggle for better wages over the time, with special attention to the movement lead by the Pijpemakers vereeniging “Beleid” a group of pipemakers in Gouda that tried to force better salaries and that existed from 1908 till 1911.

Various so-called gros- or betaalpenningen, tokens used by workers in the pipe factories that were payed per gross When a workman worked on a gross of pipes, a token was left on the tray with the work. In the end of the production the boss controlled the work and took the tokens away. When the wages were payed the tokens were returned to the workmen. Gouda, firm P. Goedewaagen & Sons, 1890-1920.
