Clay tobacco pipes from 't Slot in Gameren, HollandPijpen uit een stortlaag van 't Slot te Gameren By Don Duco Abstract: This article describes and interpretates a pipe find from the castle in Gameren, the Netherlands. A quantity of clay tobacco pipes was found dating between 1730 and 1800, that reflect the habit of smoking over a period of seventy years on a Dutch estate. So-called farmers pipe showing on the bowl in relief a crowned fish above waves, initials HDH. Holland, Schoonhoven, Huibert de Hoog (active <1773-1793>), date 1775-1790. 4. Another farmers pipe with on the bowl side in relief a crowned fish above waves, initials HVDO and IVW. Holland, Gorinchem, Jan van Wouw (active <1775-1790>), date 1775-1790. 5.
