Clay tobacco pipes from a former canal in the Beerstreet in The Hague, HollandTabakspijpen uit een gedempte gracht in de Bierstraat te ‘s-Gravenhage By Don Duco Abstract: This article deals with a find of almost 200 pipebowls in a former canal in the city centre of The Hague. The material dates from the first moment smoking was taken up till about 1650. As the material is spread over a period of two generations, it clearly reflects the development of the clay tobacco pipe in this part of Holland and in particular the taste of a special group of smokers.
